It is only minutes before storm arrives and things turn even more interesting. Not many shadows are lurking in the dark by then, but there are also some like me who enjoys the downpour of the rain. This is the view of the most dangerous and elegant country of all all the way to the edge of the world.Īnd then, there is me, unmoved in stillness as drops begin to soak my white gown little by little, until the rain decides to become heavier and the fomenting fiber come harder. The roofs are gabled while others are simply flat. The buildings are magnificent, tall and crafted to every inch of their details. Some lights are made of red, while the others are dimmer. Some footsteps of shadows drown in the pools while some on hard and congeal roads, but they are all engulfed in the sound of the vapor. I can hear everything those which are landing on the concrete side of the outer walls, the vibrating metals that collides with the drops of rain, the soft buzzes of umbrellas meeting light pour. The sounds of the clashing water drops are like uneven melodies that tingle my ears. The black roof of the highest tower from the empire’s castle has always been my favorite spot for the occasion. The rain is pouring not so heavy and not too slight. One jump and I am already thousands of feet above the ground, meeting the sight of the grey sky.

History of the Britons is a rare and fascinating glimpse into the early ninth century, but a text that must be used with caution! The early material (§10-18) is a mixture of myth and speculation attempting to provide origin legends for various ethnic groups living in the British Isles in the ninth century. This work is a compilation of miscellaneous texts of various origins and purposes, drawing upon materials from oral tradition as well as Latin manuscripts, and from sources in Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. Although the text of Historia Brittonum “The History of the Britons” was attributed in the past to the cleric Nennius, it is now believed to have been written by a Welsh clergyman AD 829×30. I was really pleased with the overall outcome, and love seeing Narumi and Hirotaka's relationship gradually evolve. This type of organization had me constantly wanting to continue reading because I wanted to know how their date was progressing. On the first half of the volume, I think Fujita was very clever in the way she organized this volume, in that the storyline I was most invested in, Narumi and Hirotaka’s date, was made up of several chapters sprinkled throughout the volume. We also get flashbacks to the origins of Koyanagi and Kabakura’s relationship, and Naoya makes a new friend. In volume 2 of Wotakoi we get to follow along on Narumi and Hirotaka’s first “real” date, where the two have agreed that they won’t discuss otaku related things at all. Horror, perhaps more than any other genre, offers the poster artist the opportunity to create an image that is both disturbing and memorable. Also featured is the work of directors who are wholly or partly remembered for their contribution to the genre, like Roman Polanski ( Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby ), Alfred Hitchcock ( The Birds and Psycho ), David Cronenberg ( The Fly ) and Brian de Palma ( Carrie and Sisters ). The films are grouped by categories, such as Universal Studios' uniquely rich hoard of horror, the products of British horror specialists Hammer Films, Japanese horror movies, horror spoofs such as An American Werewolf in London, or serial killer movies. This splendid, if scary, collection of movie posters covers over 80 years of horror films and features all the classics of the genre from early silents such as Nosferatu (illustrated here with a hitherto unpublished poster) and The Cabinet of Dr Caligari to contemporary blockbusters like Silence of the Lambs. Sir Kazuo Ishiguro (カズオ・イシグロ or 石黒 一雄), OBE, FRSA, FRSL is a British novelist of Japanese origin and Nobel Laureate in Literature (2017). A story of love, friendship and memory, Never Let Me Go is charged throughout with a sense of the fragility of life. Narrated by Kathy, now thirty-one, Never Let Me Go dramatises her attempts to come to terms with her childhood at the seemingly idyllic Hailsham School and with the fate that has always awaited her and her closest friends in the wider world. Kazuo Ishiguro imagines the lives of a group of students growing up in a darkly skewed version of contemporary England. In Klara and the Sun, his first novel since winning the Nobel Prize in Literature, Kazuo Ishiguro looks at our rapidly-changing modern world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator to explore a fundamental question: what does it mean to love? She remains hopeful a customer will soon choose her, but when the possibility emerges that her circumstances may change for ever, Klara is warned not to invest too much in the promises of humans. From her place in the store, Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, watches carefully the behaviour of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass in the street outside.
